The dream was partially fulfilled in the Philippines. In 1959, he donated his collection of Philippine modernist art to the Ateneo de Manila University, forming the core collection of the Ateneo Art Gallery. His donation included priceless international prints, such as those by Rembrandt, Monet, and Picasso. He had modestly called it then, “a study collection.” The gallery today is renowned as a repository of the best works from the early Philippine modernist period.
